One-liner

~25 words
Tracked is a fast, private time tracking app for Mac & iPhone, built for freelancers who bill by time. Menu-bar timer, hourly rates, budgets, PDF timesheets — and your data never leaves your devices.

App description

App Store style
Tracked is native time tracking for people who bill by time. Start and stop timers from the Mac menu bar, rebuild your day on a drag-and-drop calendar lane, and keep projects, tasks, hourly rates, budgets, and expenses in one place. When it's time to invoice, export a polished PDF timesheet your client will actually read. Your data stays yours: no account, no servers, no analytics. Everything lives on your devices, with optional iCloud sync through your own iCloud account. Switching is painless — Tracked imports from nine time trackers (Tyme, Timing, Toggl Track, Clockify, Harvest, Timemator, Clockodo, mite, Everhour), plus generic CSV and JSON. And it automates like a native app should: nine Shortcuts intents, a full AppleScript dictionary, a tracked:// URL scheme, and a built-in MCP server so AI assistants like Claude can start timers and summarize your week. One price unlocks everything. Try it free for 14 days — everything included, no account needed.

Background / long form

for articles
Tracked is a native time tracking app for macOS and iOS aimed at freelancers and consultants who bill by the hour. It combines a menu-bar timer, calendar-style day reconstruction (drag, resize, and fill time blocks), and per-project hourly rates, budgets, and expenses with polished PDF timesheet export. Tracked's positioning rests on three things. First, privacy: there is no account and no server — data lives in a local database on the user's device, with optional sync through the user's personal iCloud account, and the App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected." Second, switching costs: built-in importers for nine competing tools (Tyme, Timing, Toggl Track, Clockify, Harvest, Timemator, Clockodo, mite, Everhour) move years of history in minutes. Third, automation: alongside Shortcuts, AppleScript, and a URL scheme, Tracked ships a built-in MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, letting AI assistants such as Claude start timers, log entries, and produce weekly summaries — a first in the category. The business model is deliberately simple: a 14-day free trial with everything unlocked, then one price for everything — $3.99/month, $19.99/year, or a $49.99 one-time lifetime purchase. Core tracking remains free after the trial; Pro adds unlimited projects, iCloud sync, and PDF export.

About the maker

Tracked is designed and built by Tobias Schümann, an independent developer building native apps for Apple platforms. Tracked grew out of his own freelance work: a frustration with time trackers that either lived in someone else's cloud or treated the Mac as an afterthought.
